Beautiful hands to sooth hearts from tomorrow


LAHORE – The Punjab University College of Art and Design (PUCAD) in collaboration with the Calligraphers Association of Pakistan will hold an international conference on calligraphy titled ‘Sarir-e-Khama: Art of the Pen’ from tomorrow (Monday) at the college.
According to PUCAD Principal Dr Rahat Naveed Masud, it will be the first international conference on calligraphy in the country and noted foreign calligraphers as well well experts from Turkey, Iran, Syria, Iraq and England will join in.
The conference will centre on development and evolution of penmanship and its impacts on the art and architecture. The issues related to art of the contemporary world will be discussed to ascertain and identify the future potential direction of the art of calligraphy and its impacts.
The conference will be conducted in the form of academic reading of research papers by experts, followed by a seven-day workshop to be led by skillful calligraphers, who will impart different skills to the participants. A series of exhibitions will also be part of the moot while book stalls will also be set up at the campus. Certificates will be awarded to the participants of the moot.
