LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the coming elections are for the security of the country, urging the people to bring Nawaz Sharif into power through their votes for making Pakistan of Quaid and Iqbal.

He was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the building of the local boys’ degree college and laying foundation stone of Kotli Satiyan-Dhanda Road on Saturday. MNA Hanif Abbasi, Adviser to Chief Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Raja Fayyaz Sarwar MPA also spoke on the occasion. Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Zaeem Qadri, MPAs Rehana Hadees Satti, Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, Raja Attique Sarwar, Raja Javed Akhlas, Hafiz Usman Abbasi, Shahid Riaz Satti, office-bearers and workers of PML-N from Kotli Satiyan, Kahuta and Murree and a large number of people of the area were also present.

He said Zardari had set new records of corruption and the news of taking kickbacks in the deal of submarines from France were appearing in international newspapers. He said that according to the report of Transparency International, corruption of Rs 7 billion was being committed daily in Pakistan. He claimed every penny of the looted money would be recovered from the looters. He said it was not good for a nuclear power to have a begging bowl. He asked the people to bring Nawaz Sharif to power in the coming elections for the progress of the country.

The chief minister announced setting up of Rescue-1122 station at Kotli Satiyan and release of funds for the construction of bridges on Biyaga-Lehtarar Road, Dhanda-Chajhana Road and Kahoti-Kalyari Road as well as four coaches for the girls’ college within a week. He also announced hill allowance for the provincial employees performing their official duties in Kotli Satiyan and Murree.

Shahbaz Sharif said had the looted money of the people been available in the country, many hospitals, schools, colleges and roads would have been constructed. He said corruption of Rs 7 billion daily would have to be stopped for providing better transport to the people and constructing schools, colleges and residential colonies. “Instead of checking corruption, the rulers are importing costly vehicles for them through aeroplanes.  Shahbaz said: “We will make every sacrifice and not rest until elimination of corruption from the country.”

He said the country was facing drone attacks. He recalled that Nawaz Sharif had rejected the offer of five billion dollars, ignored pressure and five telephone calls of the then US pressure Clinton, conducted six nuclear tests and made the defence of the country invincible. He said he had provided educational scholarships on merit to the poor but talented children by setting up Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and provided lacs of laptops among talented students only on merit. He promised gas supply to Kotli Satiyan if PML-N came into power.  The chief minister announced to give the building of the boys’ degree college to female students and shifting of the boys’ college to the under-construction building of the girls degree college.

MNA Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Advisor to CM Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, MPA Raja Fayaz Sarwar, while addressing the public meeting, thanked the chief minister for paying special attention to the development of the area. Shahid Abbasi said the people of Kotli Satiyan had always supported PML-N. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said the leadership of PML-N had served the people of Pakistan with honesty.

He said the people of Kotli Satiyan were very happy on the visit of the Punjab chief minister. He also demanded setting up of a technical college and special package for the construction and repair of local roads of union councils in Kotli Satian.
