ISLAMABAD - Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Tariq Malik, called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday and briefed him about the progress on registration of Pakistani citizens.

The Chairman Nadra informed the Prime Minister that 92.9 million CNICs have been issued so far covering 96 per cent of adult population of Pakistan. He also informed the Prime Minister that 2.9 million CNICs have been made free of cost so far.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to register and get CNIC as it is a basic document, which qualifies a citizen for social service programmes like financial inclusion, disaster management and emergency relief programmes. The Prime Minister appreciated Chairman NADRA for increasing overall registration by 70 per cent and registration of Women by 90 per cent in last four years.
