Danish companies keen to invest in energy projects

ISLAMABAD - The Federal Minister for Water & Power, Mr. Khawaja Asif received the Political Director of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Jesper Moller Sorensen along with the Danish Charge d’Affaires, Ms. Helle Nielsen, and the Commercial Counselor, Mr. Assar Qureshi.
During their meeting, they discussed upcoming energy projects and explored ways to attract more international investments to Pakistan, especially within wind energy. Pakistan and Denmark enjoy close and cordial relations and are working closely together on a bilateral and multilateral level.
It was apprised that Pakistan has a huge potential for renewable energy and Denmark has long been a pioneer, especially in wind energy. The Danish companies are global leaders in green energy and energy efficiency. In these areas, Denmark has something to offer Pakistan, which is facing a serious energy challenge.
During the meeting, Mr. Sorensen also briefed the Minister about the Danish success story of transitioning from a society dependent on imported fossil-fuel to a completely energy independent economy with an increasing amount of renewables in the energy mix.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that the policies of the government are business friendly and all the government machinery will facilitate the international investors.
He further assured the Danish delegation that the government would facilitate the international companies who are interested to invest in Pakistan.
Regarding the cooperation in energy sector, the minister appreciated that Denmark has state of the art technology in renewable energies, particularly in wind and hoped that Pakistan would get benefits from the experiences of the Danish in this regards, he added.
