Police have registered an FIR under Anti Terrorism Act against the son of a ruling party MPA and his six supporters on a charge of torturing a newly elected councillor besides destroying his car in Zahir Pir Town on the National Highway.

Chaudhry Ayub, an elected independent councillor of Zahir Pir Municipal Committee, is also president of Anjuman Taajran Zahir Pir. He was going home on Sunday evening with his three friends by the car. Near his house, Qammaruddin Rind, son of PML-N MPA Nawaz Rind, with his supporters intercepted the victims and allegedly started threatening them of dire consequences. Later, he started aerial firing and destroyed their car completely and also beat up them, the victims alleged.

Two friends of Ayub ran away but Ayub and his other friend could not escape. Qammar took them in his house and after giving a pistol to Ayub, took his pictures and called the local police that Qammar attacked his house with his friends.

Police reached the scene and arrested Qammar and his friends. Meanwhile, a large number of people gathered there and started protest against police of Zahir Pir. The district police officer also reached there and after investigating ordered to register an FIR against Qammar and his six supporters.

When this scribe tried contact DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat, his cell was out of range while SHO Zahir Pir Malik Aslam Sabir Solangi did not attend the phone call.
