For pre-poll rigging in the third phase of local bodies elections here, thousands of voters belonging to other than district Dera Ghazi Khan were registered in the electoral lists of the district by the Election Commission.

It was observed during the polling that even such voters' permanent and temporary home addresses were the same on their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).

During the election day, The Nation learnt and observed that a voter namely Musif Khan, son of Bakhat Munir, holding CNIC 21104-1559085-9 with permanent and temporary address of Bajour Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cast a vote of serial No 540 and family No 354 at polling station located at Government College of Boys Block 14 of UC-10 of the Municipal Corporation.

When this scribe along with Malik Siraj Ahmed, a resident of polling station concerned, saw a voter's original CNIC, it revealed that more than 129 such votes have been registered under the code of list 224200905 in UC-10 of Municipal Corporation DG Khan. Mushif Khan said that he had came there only for casting vote along with dozens of his other relatives on the request of a candidate of chairman slot though they are residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Siraj Ahmed said that after the reality, now it is duty of ECP that a huge number of voters who had moved from other parts of Pakistan to DG Khan should be now registered in their original hometowns, even though they still reside in DG Khan. An inquiry order should be issued by Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan to probe the fraud.
