LAHORE: Ajoka Theatre yesterday presented a play “Dukh Darya” at Alhamra, The Mall based on the true story of an Azad Kashmiri woman arrested in Indian Held Kashmir.

The play addressed the sensitive issue of the identity of the women of Kashmir caught in the crossfire between the governments on both sides of the border. The story of Shehnaz and her daughter is skillfully interwoven with stories of the suffering of women, based on historical events and mythology to create a powerful and tragic narrative.

The play has been written by Shahid Nadeem and directed by Madeeha Gauhar.  “Dukh Darya” is part of Ajoka’s Theatre for Peace programme and is passionate call for peace and goodwill. The play will be staged until 10 December, the Universal Human Rights Day.
