Rawalpindi - The passengers of a Dubai-bound flight of Air Blue faced huge difficulties at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) yesterday after it got delayed for nearly nine hours. Islamabad-Dubai bound flight (PA-210) was scheduled to depart at 11:40am but kept on getting delayed and the stranded passengers protested against the management of public carrier.

As many as 210 passengers were about to board the flight.

“I could not sleep last night because I have to reach early in morning at airport to catch my Dubai-bound flight,” said Sabih Ahmed, a passenger, while talking to The Nation at airport.  He said Air Blue management did not bother to inform the passengers about delay in flight by SMS or phone calls.

“I am working as supervisor in a company in Dubai and had an important meeting in the evening but now I cannot reach on time,” he said. He denounced the negligence of management of the private airline.

Another passenger Ishtiaq Ahmed told that he arrived at airport around 8:30am to board the flight without any trouble but here the FIA refused to allow his entry in international departure saying the flight has been delayed.

He said he went to a staffer of Air Blue to ask about the reason but in all vain. “The staffers of private airline were not guiding the passengers properly which is appalling,” he said.

A female passenger said that airline did not announce the reason for delay and the correct time at which it will depart. Many other passengers, who came from different parts of the province even from KPK, expressed their deep concerns about lethargic attitude of the staffers of Air Blue at BBIIAP. A female staffer of Air Blue at BBIIAP, when approached by The Nation, said the aircraft could not fly from Dubai for Islamabad that caused delay in the flight. She told that the flight would now take off at 8:30pm.
