Lahore -  A sessions court yesterday issued arrest warrants for three police constables who failed to appear as witnesses in a murder case that has been going on the past seven years.

Also, a special court yesterday imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 each on four Pakistanis deported from Muscat. FIA had arrested them from the Lahore Airport.

The court was informed that the accused had been sent to Muscat by agents where they could not get any job. They were trying to get jobs when got arrested and later on sent back home.

SHO suspended for showing negligence

Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf yesterday suspended the Wahdat Colony station house officer over poor crime-control.

According to a police spokesman, SHO Wahdat Colony Waqas-ul-Hassan was suspended from service after the crime rate swelled in his jurisdiction. The DIG also admonished the DSP and SHO of Gulshan-e-Ravi over poor performance.

The DIG also demoted three assistant sub inspectors to the rank of head constables over poor performance. He also issued show-cause notices to several policemen who failed to improve the crime rate in their respective areas.

Haider Ashraf was presiding over an anti-crime meeting of the Iqbal Town police division yesterday. The meeting was called to review the crime and law and order situation in the division. SP Iqbal Town Adil Memon, all the circle officers, and station house officers were also present on this occasion.

Meanwhile, the DIG directed the field police officers to ensure proper security arrangements in the markets, commercial centers, banks, and other important building ahead of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
