KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah hosted a reception for visiting Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and his delegation at CM House on Friday.
The reception was attended by prominent businessmen, former players of hockey, cricket and Squash players, academicians and others.
The chief minister along with his cabinet members, Nisar Khuhro, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Jam Mehtab Dahar, chief Secretary Rizwan Memon, Chairman P&D Mohamad Waseem and Principal Secretary Sohail Rajput held a meeting with Mayor London Sadiq Khan, Deputy Mayor Mr Rajesh and other delegation members. In the meeting they discussed business opportunities in Sindh, exchange of businessmen delegations and explore other opportunities in trade and commerce. Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the visit of Landon Mayor to Karachi and his meetings with business is a good move towards promotion of trade and commerce.
He said that this visit of the Mayor is of a great value in terms of interaction between business delegates he has brought with him to meet with businessmen of Pakistan based in Karachi.
Syed Murad Ali Shah addressing the reception said that he was glad receive him in the CM House. “We are proud that our Muslim and Pakistani brother is Mayor of London,” he said. He added our policy towards investment is quite friendly. The Mayor of London addressing the gathering said that he clad in shirwani, therefore he may not be considered as groom, this is just Pakistani dress, he said in lighter mood.
He said that most of leading politicians are educated from London such as Quaid-e- Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Shaheed Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and various others.
“I am proud to be the Mayor of a City which is known for having best educational institutions from where your politicians, doctors, engineers have received education from London,” he said. Looking at Captain of Pakistan Cricket team Sarfraz Ahmed he asked for claps for him.
“In T-20 tournament held recently Pakistan beat England in Semi final and India in final, therefore he [Sarfraz] deserves clapping,” he said.
Talking about Karachi he said it is a beautiful city and it has great potential for investment.
He said he has brought a delegation of businessmen to interact with the businessmen of Karachi and explore investment opportunities.
The chief minister presented Sindhi caps, ajrak, shield and other gifts to the visiting delegation led by Mayor London.
