FIA raids residence of alleged swindler

Rawalpindi - A team of Cyber Crime Wing of Federal Investigation on Friday carried out a raid on the residence of a swindler allegedly involved in taking objectionable pictures of a female university student.

The investigators of FIA conducted a detailed search of the flat located at Main Markaz of Gulshanabad on Adiala Road and took the hard drive of his computer into custody. However, the accused identified as Chaudhry Sohaib Ali managed to escape the scene.

Chaudhry Sohaib Ali was involved in swindling money and gold from a family by impersonating himself as cousin of former Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The investigators were accompanied by a female officer of FIA who grilled the wife of the accused and asked her to produce her husband before FIA for further probe. 

FIA investigators have conducted the raid on complaint of female student of a government run university. 

According to the victim, Sohaib looted money and gold from her parents and later called her to his flat and tortured her. He then took objectionable pictures of her with his mobile phone, with the help of his wife and began blackmailing her family. The victim said that Sohaib surrendered another mobile phone before FIA investigators instead of the one he used in the crime. 

She added that she approached Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan along with her mother, for justice.

According to sources, DG HRC of SCP had ordered DG FIA to probe into allegations and take action against the accused. 

Talking to media men, Inspector Shaukat Ali of FIA said that he obtained search warrants from a court of law for carrying out raid on the residence of Sohaib Ali.

He added that the hard drive he recovered from the flat would be sent for forensic examination and further action against Sohaib would only be taken after issuance of report of hard drive by forensic experts.
