Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that he will consider stepping down from the captain’s position, if he fails to deliver.
While speaking with media on the book launching ceremony of noted sports journalist Saleem Khaliq, Sarfaraz said he is aware that he would have to forfeit the position of Test captain if he felt he is the reason for Pakistan’s defeat.
Staying captain without positive results, doesn’t make sense, said Sarfaraz. The next tour will be my final litmus test, he added.
The young wicket-keeper and batsman said that the team must learn from its mistakes. He added that Pakistan could have easily won the Test series against New Zealand which the team lost due to its own mistakes.
“I urge my team to play positive and fearless cricket in South Africa,” he said. It is the only way positive results can be nurtured, he added.
He also praised Yasir Shah and hoped that the leg-spinner will continue to bring more laurels for Pakistan cricket in future.
