Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah expressing disappointment over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has warned the rulers against running its affairs through ordinance and said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan's statements have portrayed that 'dark clouds of dictatorship' were looming over the country.
While talking to the media in Lahore on Sunday, the PPP leader said that his party would stand in the government's way in case the PTI decides to run its affairs through ordinance. “It is only during dictatorships that the governments are run through ordinance, and it seems that the government has just become an alternative dictatorship,” the Shah said.
“PPP believes in the parliamentary system,” Shah said, adding that the government would be fully opposed if an ordinance was brought. He pointed out that his party and the opposition were ready to cooperate with the government for law-making in the interests of the country.
Though, Shah did express hope that the government would not be foolish to set up standing committees by itself and said that the PPP would not become part of the standing committees until their traditional implementation.
