LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that no stone will be left unturned for the protection of life and property of the people and stern action would be taken against those showing negligence in this regard. He directed to constitute special team comprising of professional and capable officers and officials for immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the tragic incident of DG Khan. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held in connection with reviewing law and order situation in the province at the Chief Minister's Secretariat here on Sunday. The meeting which was lasted for more than three hours was attended by Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah, Advisors to CM Pervez Rashid, Saeed Mehdi, Jehanzeb Burki, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Inspector General Police, Additional IG CID, Commissioner and RPO Sargodha Division and other concerned officers. The Chief Minister has recommended to federal government for making the DPO DG Khan as OSD and suspending him. He also issued orders for immediately making Regional Police Officer and DCO DG Khan as OSD and suspending SP Special Branch and concerned DSP. He also directed to reactivate cabinet committee for comprehensive security arrangements and ensuring law and order on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). He also directed to constitute a special committee headed by Senior Advisor for reviewing the matters including provision of equipment, vehicles and weapons to police check posts situated in sensitive areas and constitution of separate police force for curbing the incidents of terrorism which will submit its recommendations within seven days. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister said that government had taken comprehensive steps for promotion of brotherhood and religious harmony, establishment of law and order during Moharram ul Haram throughout the province and a special cabinet committee had been constituted in this regard as a result of which no unpleasant incident occurred in the province. He said that establishment of law and order will be ensured at all cost in the province and those playing with the lives of innocent people will be awarded deterrent punishment. He said that it is the need of the hour to ensure unity in the present circumstances and we all will have to play our due role jointly for elimination of terrorism and sectarianism and the nefarious designs of the anti state elements will have to be foiled. Taking serious notice of the tragic incident of DG Khan, the Chief Minister said that police and the administration could not take solid steps for the protection of mourning procession in the city due to which this sad incident occurred and number of precious lives were lost. He said had the police and administration taken effective steps for protection of the procession, such a major incident would have been avoided. He recommended to federal government for making DPO DG Khan as OSD and suspending him for showing negligence and issued orders for immediately making RPO and DCO DG Khan as OSD and suspending SP Special Branch and concerned DSP. It may be mentioned that the entire staff of the concerned police station has already been suspended. He directed constitution of a special team for arresting the culprits involved in incident of DG Khan and added that no stone should be left unturned for bringing the accused to book at the earliest. On the request of Senior Advisor he also directed immediate establishment of Trauma Center at DG Khan hospital. He further directed to make foolproof security arrangements during Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, 12th Rabiul Awwal and other religious events and to ensure implementation of SOP in letter and spirits for maintaining law and order in this regard. While issuing directions for giving advertisements in the newspapers for identification of persons involved in the incident of DG Khan and Mianwali, he said that Rs.2.5 million each would be given to those providing information about the culprits involved in these incidents. Shahbaz said that it is the need of the hour to promote brotherhood, love and tolerance for establishment of law and order in the province and if we did not strengthen the process of national solidarity then God forbid we cannot survive. Chief Minister said that he will hold meetings with the ulema of all schools of thought so that in the light of their valuable opinions further solid steps could be taken for making the province credal of peace. He said that the use of loud speakers spreading hatred will not be allowed and stern action will be taken against the persons involved in misuse of loud speakers without any discrimination and the cooperation of elected representatives is of utmost importance in this regard. Expressing his sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in the incident of terrorism at police check post Mianwali, the Chief Minister said that effective strategy should be adopted for checking such incidents and serious consideration should be given to the constitution of a separate police force equipped with modern weapons and capable to fully cope with the terrorists for eradicating such incidents. He said that if solid and timely steps should not be taken for checking such incidents, these can weaken the country. He said that it is high time that we should make unity among our ranks and fulfill our national responsibility for elimination of terrorism and extremism. He also directed strengthening of police check posts situated in sensitive areas, regular patrolling of all routes and deployment of elite force on patrolling posts. He directed Inspector General Police to immediately remove elite force deployed on the duties of VIPs and at various places and matter regarding provision of trained guards from private companies for their security should be considered. He also directed for massive crackdown against criminal persons, combing of their hideouts and posting of ASPs on important police check posts. He called for a report about the incident of Uch Sharif within 48 hours. Chief Minister also constituted a committee headed by Senior Advisor, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa and comprising of Law Minister, Advisors and senior officers for formulating comprehensive recommendations regarding establishment of peaceful atmosphere, performance of border military police DG Khan, provision of modern weapons to police check posts situated in sensitive areas, strict implementation of Loudspeaker Act and consultation with elected representatives in this regard which will submit its recommendations within seven days keeping in view all aspects. He also directed reactivation of divisional coordination committees so that due to better coordination between divisional commissioners and regional police officers not only people problem could be solved speedily but it could also help for further improving the law and order. Earlier, participants of the meeting and senior officers gave detailed briefing about the law and order situation in the province and presented their proposals. The meeting also gave approval of various proposals.
