It was shocking to know that American Ambassador Anne W. Patterson was entertained by President Asif Ali Zardari in Aiwan-e-Sadr Islamabad on Saturday, January 24, 2009. It was the day when American warplanes attacked two villages in North and Southern Waziristan, where 31 innocent Pakistanis including women and children were brutally killed. One expected Anne Patterson to be declared persona non-gratta and immediately expelled from the country on this day. Instead, she was feted by the President in the Presidency. Our leadership should learn to show some courage for bold actions in the interest of Pakistan. -DR INAYATULLAH FAIZI, Chitral, via e-mail, January 25.
