LAHORE - Nowshera Eleven failed to keep home advantage in front of their own supporters and suffered 0-1 reverse at the hands of touring Lahore's Wohaib FC in Pakistan Football Federation League - Club Phase, currently in progress at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Nushki, Hyderabad and Nowshera. The Group-B match between the two famous teams of Pakistan was played on Sunday, 8 February at Nowshera's Farooq Stadium. Muslim FC of Chaman, who already earned berth in semi-finals with seven points from three games, and Hyderabad's Young Baloch F are other participants in the Group. Tomorrow, Monday, Group-A match will be played at PSB Ground, Islamabad when home team Mehran FC will welcome Karachi Kickers FC. Nushki's Baloch FC is other team in the group while Lakki Marwat's Lakki Karawan FC had withdrew. Nowshera-Wohaib clash saw both teams missing real chances in the first session but poor finishing tarnishing the image of both teams. It was 0-0 at interval as big supporters failed to get anything of praise from their team. Zahid Nadeem-led Wohaib, desperately in need of win after 0-5 drubbing at home against Muslim FC, were better team in second session and their continous attacks earned them the 73rd minute winner when midfielder Mazhar Yasin and spearhead Mudassar Butt opened the gate for international youth striker Jibran Butt to go through and sent the ball low past Nowshera's keeper. It was fine goal by Jibran, son of club's manager Hafiz Salman Butt, former PFF Secretary. The Match Commissioner was Salahuddin Awan while Muhammad Anwar supervised the match, supported on line by Imtiaz Ali Shah, Muhammad Ali Sr and Muhammad Saleem (4th Official), The event is comprised of 12 matches instead of 15 matches following retraction of Lakki Marwat's team and top team will earn slot in 2009's Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL), replacing one of the two teams who were relegated during PPFL League 2008. The league phase will conclude on 12 February when Kickers FC will take on Baloch FC at Korangi Baloch Stadium, Karachi and Wohaib FC will collide with Young Baloch FC at University Ground, Old Campus, Lahore.
