KARACHI (APP) - Federal Minister for Production and Industries Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani Monday said the government was very much alive to the difficulties of industry and trade in the country and was making all-out efforts for their revival. We believe in public and private sectors partnership for strengthening the national economy and development of the country, the minister said while talking to media at 5th Productivity Conference on Development of Demonstration Companies on Six Sigma and launching of Productivity Association of Pakistan -Sindh Chapter, here at the Federation House. The Minister said the country was facing an economic pressure and it would be overcome through productive polices and practical steps. He was confident that the nation would emerge successful on this front. He said the industry was facing many problems and thus it would take some time for its revival. The PPP-led government believed in public-private partnership and that we wanted to take all stakeholders along to achieve the targets set for various economic sectors, he added. We are in the process of consultation with stakeholders for better strategy with clear targets, he added. To a question about revival/ revamping of Pakistan Steel Mills, Bijarani said this was a big gift to the nation from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The PPP Government utilised all available options for its repair, modernisation, expansion and to enhance its historical role in the development of country. He said his ministry would come up with many promising steps in this direction within next few weeks. When his attention was drawn towards shortage of sugar, the minister said the government had planned to import 1.2 million tonnes and that very effective monitoring was being done on domestic sugar production and its disposal for ensuring easy availability of sugar to the people.
