MINCHINABAD - The police claimed to have shot dead wanted notorious proclaimed offender Asif alias Aasi in a shootout in Chakri near Mauza Laleka here the other day. However, his other accomplices made good their escape from the scene. According to details, Aasi was the ringleader of an inter-provincial gang involved in heinous crime likes dacoities, kidnapping for ransom and murders. He was one of the main suspects involved in the murder of the In-charge judicial lockup (Bakhshi Khana) ASI Muhammad Amin Joya, who was gunned down on June 24, 2012. Talking to 'The Nation' DSP Rao Muhammad Jamshaid said that the shootout took place when Aasi's accomplices opened fire on the police personnel. "Aasi was wanted in over a dozen cases including loot, murder, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes by the police in different district across the province," the DSP pointed out. The killing of the notorious Aasi has brought to an end the reign of terror in the tehsil as his gang members Ali Sher Lakhi and Shah Behram Mani were shot dead in a shootout on June 26,2012'', He claimed. He said that team were formed to arrest other members of the gang.
