KARACHI - A MPA from ruling PPP, Pitamber Sehwani on Friday tabled an adjournment motion to discuss alleged inhumane act of the policemen against a 19-grade professor Sachanand and her daughter in Khairpur.

The MPA elected on reserved seats for minorities, in his adjournment motion, said that SHO Ghulam Mustafa Mirani and ASI Sikandar Abro along with another policeman came in a private car and forcibly entered the house of grade-19 professor Sachanand with an intention to kidnap his daughter but on the contrary policemen had alleged that he had brought his own daughter for assault purpose.

MPA in his adjournment further said that the policemen dragged professor’s daughter from hair to sit in the care, while at hue and cry of professor the people form neighborhood gathered.

Later, the policemen while robbing Rs0.2 million from his house demanded rupees Rs0.5 million from the professor in return to release him and his daughter, MPA told the house, adding that constitution of Pakistan gives equal rights to minorities but police officers have displayed discrimination by not lodging of FIR and committed crime as mention above.

Law Minister Ayaz Soomro condemned the act and through the chair extended government’s help for investigation into the incident.

Law minister said what ever name chosen by the MPA, the government will appoint investigation office of the incident and will make report within a week. On the recommendation of MPA Pitamber, the chair directed to write IGP to appoint SP Rizwan Soomro to investigate the incident and file the report within a week.

Earlier, PML-F’s Jam Madad while speaking on point of order in Sindh Assembly on Friday drew the attention of the house to the resolution of Masroor Jatoi of NPP, opposing the proposal of deleting the article 239 of constitution, under which any change is not possible without two third majority of the provincial assembly concerned.

Jam Madad said that a committee led by the senior minister Pir Mazhar was formed, which met lot of time and discussed the issue.

Opposition MPA demanded of the government to make the report of the committee public, so the resolution could be passed in the light of the committee’s report.

Law Minister Ayaz Soomro replying the point of order said that Pir Mazhar is abroad for surgery, when he come will brief the house about the proceedings.

Later, the Provincial Minister for Archives Department Engineer Muhammad Rafique Advocate told the house that resigning advisor to CM for special education Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh of PML-F has not returned two official vehicles.

He said that department has given notices but now intends to lodge an FIR against him.

The minister’s statement caused brief uproar by the opposition lawmakers in the house.

Jam Madad Ali of PML-F responding in the house challenged the minister that government can lodge an FIR against the Imtiaz Shaikh as he has already returned the official vehicles.
