FAISALABAD - A joint meeting of The Citizen Foundation (TCF) and Faisalabad Development Trust (FDT) was held here under chairmanship of FDT Chairman Mian Shaiq Jawed the other day.
It was decided in the meeting that both the TCF & FDT would collaborate in establishing a chain of schools in the district to impart quality education to students belonging to unprivileged class. The FDT Chairman said the Trust had accomplished a number of development projects aiming at ameliorating lot of the downtrodden members of the society over the last 2 years which entailed around Rs100 million generated by the trustees from their own resources.
The re-modeling and beautification of the Faisalabad General Bus Stand, improvement of the Jhang Road up to Airport and construction of 60 houses in ' Shahbaz Nagar' were its major projects, he added.
He said that medical equipment worth Rs10 million had been donated to DHQ Hospitals including Faisalabad, Chiniot and Allied Hospital besides providing hepatitis kits, orthopaedic apparatus and costly cardiac injections and medicines to these government-run hospitals. He said that the FDT extended monetary help Rs3.1 million to 192 deserved students of the University of Agriculture to clear their fees while 100 girl students of the Government College University were given an aid of Rs1.8 million for their fees.
He said that the Trust would shortly embark upon 3 major projects in Faisalabad which include the construction of 500 houses for widows and orphans, establishment of an Expo Centre and the construction of a 100-bed Thalassemia Hospital in which Bone Marrow Operation facilities will be also available. Speaking on the occasion, Citizen Foundation Chairman Ahsan Saleem said that TCF was a professionally managed non-profit organization which construct schools, train teachers and disseminate quality education. He said that it was vision of the TCF to remove barriers of class and privilege to make the citizens of Pakistan agents of positive change. He said that it was our mission to impart quality education and intellectual development through the power of quality education.
The TCF Chairman further said that 830 school units located in 93 towns and cities of the country were operating at present where the enrollment of the students had crossed 1,15,000 students across Pakistan. FDT Vice Chairman Mr Nazim Shahzad, Trustees, Muhammad Waseem Mukhtar, Mr Ahmed Shyafi, Mian Abid Kamal and eminent local entrepreneurs Imran Fiaz, Mansoor Riaz and Mr Zahid attended the meeting.
