Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered huge quantity of narcotics and held 15 smugglers during operations against drug mafia in different parts of the country.

The force also seized two vehicles being used to transport narcotics, informed ANF spokesman Sami Ullah Khan yesterday.

According to him, the ANF while carrying out 11 operations against drug trafficking at Islamabad, Attock, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta have recovered 9-kg heroin, 13-kg hashish, 5-kg opium, 2400-litre acetic anhydride and 700 grams ice. Sharing further details, he said that ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information detained two drug carriers including Abdul Akbar and Safaid Gul at Pirwadhai and recovered 5-kg heroin from their possession. He added that ANF detained a passenger Obaid Ullah at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport while he was proceeding for Doha by Qatar Airline flight number QR-633 and recovered 700 grams ice concealed in his trolley bag.

Another passenger was also held at airport with 2-kg heroin that he was trying to smuggle to Jeddah via flight number SV-721. Sami said that the ANF actions at BB airport led to arrest of two other passengers namely Haji Muhammad and Qadir Fazal with recovery of 1.970-kg heroin.

The team of ANF arrested a local drug supplier Shabir Ahmed and recovered 3-kg hashish whereas checking of a truck in Attock also led to recovery of 5-Kg hashish and 5-kg opium. Similarly, 3-kg hashish was recovered from a smuggler in Lahore and 2.4-kg hashish was recovered in Peshawar.

All cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are under way, he said.
