MULTAN - The deserving poor of Punjab will receive Rs220 million as financial support from Zakat Fund during the ongoing financial year, disclosed Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushar Naghma Mushtaq.

Talking to the journalists here on Thursday, she added that the Zakat distribution system had been made foolproof by implementation of biometric system. She said the deserving poor from 36 districts would be facilitated to receive Zakat fund. She said that payment of Guzara Allowance via Mobile Easypaisa mechanism was part of new system which enables the Zakat Department to pay allowance to the people at their homes.

Referring to Punjab Government’s performance, she said that the provincial government launched record number of development projects in South Punjab especially in the rural areas. She added that metal roads were laid in the area while healthcare facilities were offered to the people at their threshold.

She claimed that the DHQ Hospital of Multan offered state-of-the-art treatment facilities.
