rawalpindi - Federal Minister for Postal Services Ameer Zaman Bukhari said that their priority was to provide the fastest and economical postal services to the public.

Same Day Delivery Service has been introduced in twin cities for general public,e specially for business community and departments keeping in view their requirements, he said while addressing inauguration ceremony of the newly-launched service on Thursday.

Federal Secretary Postal Services Saqib Aziz, Director General Pakistan Post Rubina Tayyab and other officials were also present in the ceremony.

The minister said that to deliver mail the same day was the best effort of Pakistan Post. Pakistan Post desperately needs economic support to implement reforms agenda and their meetings with the prime minister in this regard remained successful, he said. The customers will observe betterment and enhanced quality of services of Pakistan Post, he claimed, adding that they were introducing more services for general public in near future.

Federal Secretary Postal Services Saqib Aziz said that launching of the Same Day Delivery service was a breakthrough in postal services offered by Pakistan Post, adding that such economical service as compared to the private courier companies was needed since long. We are considering extending the facility to other cities also, he said.

Director General Pak Post Rubina Tayyab while highlighting main features of the new service said that the mail booked for twin cities through specific post offices up to 11:30 am will be delivered the same day. Initially, the booking counters have been established in Rawalpindi at GPO, Satellite Town, Urdu Bazaar, Kutchery, Jhanda Chichi, Westridge, Lalkurti, Gawalmandi, Bahria Town Phase 4 and 8 as well as in Islamabad at GPO, Post Mall, F-7, F-10 Markaz, Foreign Office, G-9 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, I-8/4, I-10/4, F-6 Markaz, F-8 Markaz, G-7 Markaz, G-8 Markaz, I-9 Markaz and PM Office, she said.
