ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday asked the provincial election commissioners to ensure timely completion of tasks related to Local Government elections in provinces.
Chairing an important meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja said that ECP was ready to conduct LG elections in provinces. The provincial ECs took part in the meeting through the video link. The Commission was briefed by the provincial ECs. The Commission was informed that the final date for publication of new delimitation in Islamabad was Feb 16. The election body was further briefed that the final date of the publication of delimitation in Punjab was March 22, March 10 in Balochistan and March 24 in Sindh. ECP was further informed and briefed about measures taken by the election body after the legislation regarding the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
In order to ensure smooth completion of work related to EVMs, ECP directed departments concerned to accelerate their work in this regard on priority basis.
