ISLAMABAD - In the wake of growing tension between federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments over Khanpur Dam issue, the KP Chief Minister is likely to visit Hazara region to take 'stakeholders on board', it was learnt here on Saturday. Informed sources confided to this newspaper that Hoti is likely to visit Abbottabad and adjoining areas, apparently, to address the Abbottabad Bar Council. The CM's Secretariat confirmed to The Nation on Saturday that Hoti is expected to visit Hazara region in a fortnight or so but the exact date of his proposed visit is not finalised. Lately, powerful land mafia patronised by a real estate tycoon in the Federal Capital has been mulling over getting Khanpur Dam and related union councils included in Islamabad Capital Territory in pursuit of vested interests - a move strongly resisted by the KP government. Few days back, senior minister KP Bashir Ahmad Bilour had confirmed these reports during a telephonic conversation with The Nation. The Minister had reiterated that the KP government would not give "even an inch" of its land to the centre. Ties between the province and centre since then have reportedly soared to tension. In the backdrop of this scenario, Hoti is set to visit Hazara region, reportedly to win the support of the leaders of Hazara Movement over the issue on account of enormous influence that central leadership of the public movement enjoys over general public in Hazara region. On the other hand, the political parties and public representatives from the united platform of Tehreek-e-Hazara (Hazara Movement) have rejected CM's expected arrival and have warned of a strong backlash in case Hoti arrived in Abbottabad. "Now that they need us, they want to talk. Where was the provincial government when we were brutally killed and it was they who had ordered our deaths on April 12 last year," Chief of Hazara Movement Sardar Haider Zaman told this scribe on Saturday. "Mr Hoti Sorry You aren't welcomed at all And if you come here, the consequences would be unimaginable. Do you want to repeat what happened to you during your previous visit?" he asked Hoti in a bitterly aggressive tone referring to embarrassing exit of the KP CM from Abbottabad last year. Amir Haider Khan Hoti had visited Ayub Medical Complex Hospital Abbottabad to distribute cheques among bereaved families of April 12 victims, in the summer of 2010. To his utter embarrassment, the CM had to cut his visit short to make an emergency exit, as thousands of people had attacked the hospital moments after the CM's helicopter had landed there. Even some parliamentarians from ANP are of the view that environment would remain hostile for provincial government in Hazara region unless Hazara province was formed. Talking to The Nation, ANP MNA and chairman anti-graft caucus Nawabzada Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti said, "The ANP government can only win support in Hazara region on Khanpur Dam issue if it accepts the longstanding demand of Hazarawals. We have got Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Now, it's time for the creation of Hazara province."
