Man gunned down, three suffer injuries

LAHORE One man was gunned down while his three family members including two women suffered bullet injuries when five armed men barged their entry into a home at Karol Bazaar in Baghbanpura police precincts on Saturday, sources said. The deceased was later identified as Haider while injured included Murtaza, Asiya and Sakina. Police investigators believed the chief reason behind this gruesome incident seemed a property dispute. An eyewitness requesting anonymity said four accused including Shakeel Butt along with his four unidentified accomplices visited Ghulam Hussains home located near Aik Minar Masjid, Daroghawala, at about 1 pm. They asked about Ghulam Hussain who was fortunately absent from the home. The accused first abused the family members including Murtaza, Haider, Asiya and Sakina. Later they opened indiscriminate firings on them who suffered multiple bullet injuries on different parts of their bodies, he added. According to the eyewitness, he was a few yards away from the crime scene when the accused opened firing on victim family and managed to escape from the crime scene. Baghbanpura station house officer (SHO) inspector Liaqat Ali said the deceased Ghulam Hussain, secretary of a contractor Batto Gujjar, was heading a construction labour comprised over accused Shakeel Butt and other workers since long. He further told apparently it seemed the accused were running a property dispute with Ghulam Hussain. At this stage nothing final could be established about the root causes of this incident as none of the victims has yet approached police station for initiating a legal action against the accused, he added. He further said Haider suffered serious injury in his head, Murtaza in his leg, Asiya in his elbow and other woman in her feet.
