KARACHI - Killing of a senior MQM activist intensified the violence in various areas of the city as aerial firing and fuel tank blast left some ten people injured here on Saturday. Three vehicles were also torched in the city after his murder. According to the report, Yawar Abbas, 38, son of Sardar Jaffery, a senior worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was killed in the incident of target killing near Lal Masjid, Teen Hatti within the precincts of PIB Police Station. Police said that the victim, a resident of PIB Colony, was gunned down when he was standing in a mechanic shop at PIB Road. Unidentified culprits managed to flee after killing him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet wounds and was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced his death. The deceased activist was a former unit in-charge of MQM and also among the guards of MQM leader Farooq Sattar. It is pertinent to mention here that the deceaseds father, Sardar Jaffery, had also been killed in a similar manner some eight years ago. Some of miscreants also reached the spot and pelted stones on the vehicles and set some three buses on fire. Petrol tank of a vehicle also exploded, injuring eight persons including DSP Fakhar ul Islam, and cameraman of a local channel.
