LAHORE An old man died under mysterious circumstances near Katcha Ravi Road in Shafiqaabad police precincts on Saturday. Police believed the deceased was a drug addict and the main cause of his death was excessive usage of narcotics. Some locals spotted an unconscious man outside Mian Hotel at 1:30pm on Saturday and informed the police. Meanwhile, a sub-inspector Abid Ali reached the spot and recovered the body. Police also made numerous announcements in nearby mosques but none of the citizens claimed to own the body, which was shifted to the City morgue for autopsy. Further investigations were underway. Meanwhile, the National Highways and Motorway Police (N-5 Central) on Saturday claimed to have returned cash and valuables worth Rs 350,000 to the owners. According to a press release, NH&MP patrolling officers were on their routine duty when they found a sack containing an electric heater and two bags near Sahiwal. A bag contained a laptop worth Rs 50,000 and the other Rs 300,000 in cash. The officers took luggage in their custody and after searching found owners boarding a bus to Islamabad. The officers returned the lost items to owners Waqar Haider of Islamabad and Iftikhar Ali Khan of Rawalpindi.
