ISLAMABAD - Teams of capital police on Saturday arrested 37 suspects during a search operation in various areas and screening of houses, workshops, parking areas, markets, under-construction buildings and residential areas, a spokesman of the police informed. Police initiated a massive search operation on the directions of SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and conducted the checking at slum areas, inns, hotel and restaurants and Afghan habitats Sihala, Golra, Tarnol, Industrial Area, Shalimar and Margalla police conducted search operations in their respective jurisdictions and 37 suspects were arrested in it. Teams of Bomb Disposal Squad, police commandos, and lady police also participated in this operation and sniffer dogs also made search where it was deemed necessary. The SSP Islamabad has said that this search operation would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive as well as suspected areas. He has said that it was the prime responsibility of the police in present law and order situation to remain vigilant and every possible effort would be made to ensure peace in the city. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Shafqat Mehmud from Industrial Area Police arrested an accused Nazar Hussain who portrayed himself as cop of Punjab Police. But when police tried to confirm his identity, it came to know that he was a fake cop. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is under way. Secretariat Police arrested an accused Raja Kamran and recovered 30-bore pistols along with two rounds while Bhara Kahu police arrested one accused in possession of liquor bottles. CIA police arrested an accused Sawan Ali and recovered 30-bore pistols and eight rounds while Saddam Hussain was arrested in possession of 30-bore pistol and four rounds. Sihala police nabbed Mehran Ameer and recovered 40 rounds of MP5 gun from him.
