LAHORE The Inspector General of Police Punjab Javed Iqbal has urged the police officers/officials to come up to the expectations of the people. In an official communiqu issued from Central Police Office (CPO), the IGP spelled out the vision, the mission, core values and the priorities of the police department. He said the vision of Provincial police should be professional, service oriented and accountable. He further said that our mission was to fight against crime and win by providing dynamic and effective law enforcement. The IG said Punjab police will strive to uphold core values like integrity, courage, loyalty and fairness for the promotion of professionalism and trust, adding the operational priorities of the police are to maintain peace and order with public partnership, combat terrorism, sectarianism and militancy, ensure security of vital installations and institutions, eliminate kidnapping for ransom, enforce traffic discipline, prompt and free registration of cases, fair and speedy investigations, professional and prompt response in calls for service, effectively redress public complaints, prevent highways, houses, commercial and street robberies, zero tolerance for violence especially for women and children, arrest criminals and fugitives from justice, disseminate correct information to the public and develop performance indicators along with monitoring mechanism. He further said that administrative priorities of Punjab police are internal accountability against corruption and misuse of authority, merit and fair play in recruitment, postings and promotions; accessibility to force and redress their problems; security of tenures at operational levels; emphasis on discipline, training and capacity building; up gradation of equipment and infrastructure; welfare of junior ranks; incentives and rewards for good performance and to promote team work for success. We must be bound by a common purpose to serve and go beyond the call of duty, he concluded.
