ISLAMABAD - The employees of Federal Government Services Hospital, Polyclinic, have given strike call from Thursday (today) after three doctors, according to them, attacked chairman joint action committee of employees on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Raja Ilyas, chairman joint action committee, three doctors entered his office when he was on duty and sitting with a minister and other guests, and tried to beat him up but on his shouting all the hospital staff gathered and the doctors ran away. He said that the doctors were demanding to cancel an FIR registered against them, as they were involved in firing incident at his home but he remained unhurt. The squabble started between the accused doctors and employees over a year back when the employees of all the hospitals were protesting against the Health Personnel Pay Scale.
He said that the matter was reported to the executive director but he did not take any action. And if he does not take any action till Thursday, the employees will have no option but to go on strike.
When the incident occurred the time of outdoor patient department (OPD) was over but on Thursday if the employees observe strike, patients will suffer, said a senior doctor on condition of anonymity.
The spokesperson of Polyclinic, however, said the issue has been resolved and there will be no strike on Thursday.
