Heroin seized from Amritsar bound train

LAHORE - Customs staff, posted at Wagah Railway Station, on Wednesday recovered 2 kg heroin from a goods train originating from T 10 station and destined for Amritsar.
Additional Collector Customs Dr Asif Mehmood Jah told The Nation that the 2kg heroin, valuing Rs 20 million, had been concealed in joining rods of wheels of bogie No 973865.
The two packets of heroin, one each of one kg, had been placed in the cavity beneath the joining rods. The goods train arrived at Wahga Railway Station at 12:50pm and the drug was detected by the Customs staff 3:05pm.
Earlier, the Indian Customs staff seized heroin from goods trains several times. This is the first time that Pakistan Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin to India from Pakistan.
