ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Federal Secretary Ch Ijaz Ahmed Wednesday chaired a meeting on implementation of National Sports Policy 2005 and regulating sports culture in the country.

Additional Secretary (Sports) Amir Tariq Zaman, PSB Director General Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, PSB DG (Tech & Trg) Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, secretary sports (KPK), secretary sports (Sindh) along with DG (Sports) KPK, AJK Director (Sports) Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab were also present on the occasion.

The PSB DG informed the house that NOC was mandatory for the teams going abroad for participation in international competitions but Lt Gen (r) Arif Hasan group and some sports federations were violating this condition.

Additional secretary sports said sports had entered the courts instead of playing fields. Secretary sports (Sindh) stressed that for the promotion of games, activities should be carried out at grassroots level. The PSB DG said that the data collected by Sports Board Punjab (SBP) from the associations is almost 90 per cent worthless because of dispute of the POA. Islamabad Sports Board (ISB) Director asked the ministry of IPC to resolve the POA issue.

Director Sindh Sports Board proposed for strong coordination between all the provinces and the PSB. IPC secretary stressed upon verification of genuineness of clubs and said authenticity of federations would be based upon sports calendar, their performance and fair elections.

He informed that he would meet Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif with a proposal to streamline the sports of the country. He lauded the Punjab Youth Sports Festival and asked other provinces to follow them. He further informed that if time and health allowed him, he would definitely establish a sports university at federal level along with sports academies in the country. Thereafter, the meetings for the promotions of sports would be arranged in all provinces accordingly.
