DIG Motorway Police Central Zone Mirza Shakil Ahmad said that Multan and Rahim Yar Khan zones of Motorway police would develop their mobile education units till March for creating public awareness of traffic laws.

Addressing the officers of Motorway police here on Wednesday, he added that the only way to bring the ratio of accidents down was to ensure implementation of traffic laws. He asked officers of Motorway Police to improve the level of briefing at toll plazas and personally approach the drivers violating traffic laws.

“Go to them (violators) and inform them about their violations and then hand over challan ticket to them,” he added.

He issued order for launching of an action against motorcyclists driving without helmets. He asked the officers to behave well with the drivers as Motorway police was known for the good behaviour of its officers. He further directed the officers to use public address system installed in the vehicles for briefing road users. He said that weekly parade must be held on weekly basis in light of orders of IG Motorway Police. He declared that the nominations for best officer awards would be sent till February 20.
