KARACHI - Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) on Monday vowed to generate 200MW electricity from garbage with the cooperation of Sindh government in near future.

This was stated by Managing Director SSWMB A D Sanjnani during a meeting with a Chinese delegation at his office. During the meeting the delegation briefed the Managing Director and also given presentation about the project of electricity plant installation at garbage landfill site.

The meeting has discussed recycling process of garbage especially Industrial, Agricultural and Hospitals waste and utilize it for producing alternate energy resources with the cooperation of Sindh Government.

The Chinese company delegation was comprised Zeu Jin, Shao Jang, Lanfel Hoa and consultant Faisal Rehman. The delegation informed the Managing Director A D Sanjnani that their company is working in various countries while their energy plants are successfully working in different countries of the world.

The delegation further said that the work on the project will be started after study of landfill site and preparation of feasibility. It also informed that their company has plan for separation of mix waste and garbage. “Karachi produce 12 thousand ton garbage in a day as the company will generate 200megawatt electricity through the massive quantity of garbage.

On the occasion, Managing Director SSWMB showed his keen interest of proposal present by the Chinese company and said that generation of energy through the power plants at landfill sites beneficial for the Karachi.
