SUKKUR - Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has hoped that we will come in the power after 2018 elections with a manifesto of serving the poor.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the programme of decreasing poverty at union council level organised by Sindh Rural Support Program at Sukkur on Monday
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the SRSO as well as Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and said that by extending financial and administrative support to the SRSO, the Sindh government by implementing the programme of decreasing poverty at the level of union council has set the precedent.
He said that this programme was started from four districts of Sindh in 2009 and through this journey of decreasing the poverty it could be approached up to four lacs houses while efforts were made through different programmes. The PPP chairman said that the PML-N government took strict steps throughout the country against the NGOs and charity institutions. He said that PPP was working with non-governmental and social organisations.
He said that he has been informed that, this programme has been reached up to eleven districts, fifty two talukas, 395 union councils up to 2016 due to which more than six lacs families were taking benefits of it adding that within next five years, figure would reach eleven lacs.
He said that the women were given free interest loans who started their own business livestock, agriculture, tailoring & embroidery by opening the shops and supported their families. Almost 97 percent women also repaid their loan money.
He said that he promised that the PPP and Sindh government would support to those institutions who would make the women empower from low level. He said that there was a need to reach development model of SRSO in all the districts.
He said that it was up to the people to decide whether they want the Metro of Punjab, trees of KPK or wishing for elimination of poverty.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, President PPP Ladies Wing MNA Faryal Talpur, former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chairman SRSO Shoaib Sultan while Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, President PPP Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Provincial Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and others.
