Movie ‘Sherdil’ launched at ceremony

Islamabad:  The launching ceremony of NK pictures new film, titled “Sherdil” was held at Islamabad. The cast and crew of the film participated in the ceremony. The movie directed by Azfar Jaffary and produced by Nouman Khan is a milestone achieved because it is the first time in the history of Pakistani cinema that directors of Hollywood fame, Ricky Butland and Scott Newman, are a part of local project.

The movie’s cast includes Meekal Zulfiqar, Hassan Niazi, Armeena Khan, Sbeeka Imam, Samina Ahmed and Leyla Zubairi. Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Nouman Khan said that the movie would be a tribute to the brave sons of PAF, who have rendered selfless sacrifices for the defence of the country. He further said that this project would help promote patriotism and nationhood among the masses and the Pakistani youth in particular.

The movie will feature several thrilling fight sequences and mesmerizing music numbers. The date of movie’s release would be announced later. –PR


Body of missing 18-year-old boy found


RAWALPINDI:  The 18-year-old boy who went missing was found dead in a well in Gujar Khan, sources told The Nation on Monday. Rescue 1122 fished out the dead body of the boy who was identified as Faizan Habib, and hails from Kont Village, they said.

According to sources, the boy’s family had reported that Faizan went missing from his house and registered a case. Police then launched search for the missing boy, they said. They added that some locals went to the mosque to offer prayer when they smelled a repugnant odor in the water they used for performing ablution. Sources said that locals opened the cover of the well and saw the dead body of Faizan floating  in water. They called Rescue 1122 rescuers who reached the spot, pulled out the dead body and shifted it to THQ for autopsy. 

Meanwhile, Jatli police have registered a murder case against unknown killers after discovering the dead body of a man named Basheer in Chungal village. –Staff Report


The deceased hailed from Kamonki and was a caterer by profession. Sources said that it was suggested during investigation that Bashir was invited by his wife’s brothers in Doltala for preparing food in a marriage ceremony and was later killed by them over a domestic dispute. His body was thrown near a shrine in Chungal village. Police are carrying out raids to arrest the other accused men, said sources. SHO PS Jatli was not available for comments.

On the other hand, a soldier sustained bullet injuries after he was caught amid an intense gun battle between two parties over some dispute at Liaquat Colony on Chakri Road. The maimed soldier identified as Saqib Javed was moved to CMH Rawalpindi for medical treatment. A heavy contingent of police led by SHO PS Saddar Bairooni Malik Rafaqat rushed to the scene and recorded the statements of eyewitnesses. A case was registered against the unknown attackers.
