BUREWALA-Nine passengers including two woman and two minor girls died and 21 other sustained injuries in collision between a van and trailer, rescue sources said.

The police said the accident occurred on Chichawatni Road near Adda Lando Masjid here Monday afternoon.

The rescuers informed that a passengers Van (LXK-7724) was on the way to Chichawatni from Burewala. As the van reached near Adda Lando Masjid, its excel got broken and it rammed into a trailer (TLG-662), coming from the opposite direction. As a result four persons including two women died on the spot. Rescue 1122 rescuer rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and dead bodies to THQ hospital Burewala where five more injured passengers breathed their last, taking the number of dead in the accident to nine while 21 other injured passengers were hospitalised. The dead included driver of the van Ayaz, resident of Chak 5/WB, Vehari.

Hearing about the accident, Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Burewala Dr Amjad Shakeel imposed emergency in the hospital where doctors and paramedical staff provided medical treatment to the injured of the accident.

Vehari DPO Omar Saeed Malik, Assistant Commissioner Burewala Rao Tasleem Akhtar, DSP Tahir Majeed, Tehsildar, Muhammad Sajjad Khan Lodhi and other officials rushed to hospital and ensured medical assistant to the patients.

Two of the injured of the accident are stated to be critical. The injured were identified as Naila, Rafique, Sahiban Bibi, Ali, Ibtesam, Nasreen, Rasheeda, Khalid Riaz, Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Junaid, Minahil, Mumtaz, Rashida, Shahid, Tanveer, Muhammad hanif, Mubeen, Jabbar, Sadia and three unidentified patients are being provided medical attention at the THQ hospital Burewala.

The driver of the trailer managed to flee after the accident. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
