KARACHI - Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Monday submitted adjournment motions in the provincial assembly over the killing of two brothers in Tharparkar.

The first motion was submitted by PML-F lawmaker Nand Kumar to the Secretary Sindh Assembly GM Umar Farooq.

The motion reads that the peace of Thar was sabotaged at that time when two brothers namely Dileep and Chandur Maheshwari were killed in broad day light by dacoits and peace of Thar and adjoining areas have been damaged. In the worst condition of law and order people are unsafe, therefore, this assembly be adjourned to discuss the definite matter.   

He said that the provincial government claims to safeguard the rights of minorities and ensure law and order in the province but unfortunately, the situation on ground is far worse.

“The provincial authorities are yet to arrest the culprits behind the incident which is creating a sense of insecurity among the citizens,” he said and added that he wanted to raise the issue in the provincial assembly to create some noise on the deaf ears of the provincial authorities.  Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmaker Khurram Sher Zaman also submitted an adjournment motion against increase in criminal activities in the city and had demanded of the authorities to take strict notice of the incidents as the citizens are being deprived of their belongings.

The PTI lawmaker had also asked the Home Minister to take notice of the increase in street crime incidents and provide security to the citizens. The provincial government should arrest the criminals involved in depriving citizens of their precious belongings, he added.

He said that recently the muggers tried to loot his wife and children at a shoe shop in DHA phase VI. “The Clifton and Defence areas are seemed to becoming hub of criminal activities but the officials seem reluctant to take action against those involved in these heinous crimes.”
