A top Thai court Wednesday removed health minister Chiya Sasomsub from office, ruling that he illegally concealed his wife's assets upon taking up his post. The Constitutional Court said Chiya should have declared his wife's holdings in a hotel company to the National Counter Corruption Commission when he joined the cabinet in February. "The court ruled that the actions of Chiya violated the constitution," the verdict read. "His ministerial position is terminated," it added. Chiya said that he accepted the verdict, and that Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej would decide who will replace him.
