Legislate for vegetable dyes

Painting faces of school children has become a universal fad in functions at Pakistani schools. But this is a dangerous practice as the paints used are made of artificial dyes harmful for skin and the paint brushes and utensils used are often used for dozens of children. The skin of children is delicate and can easily get effected by a skin infection or other viral inflammations. The metal content and toxicity of paints can also cause problems. The practice needs to be stopped by those supervising school parties. -DR M. I. SHAIKH, Islamabad, July 6.
