PESHAWAR - The entrance test for academic session 2012-13 of the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar was held on Sunday at Col. Sher Khan Shaheed (Army) Stadium, Peshawar, and Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, simultaneously. The test was conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluating Agency (ETEA) of Government of Kyber Pakhtunkhwa. Around 14,984 (Fourteen thousand, nine hundred and eighty four) candidates from KPK, including FATA, AJK and Gilgit Buldistan sat for the entrance test. The results of the test will be announced in next 36 hours, and available on ETEA website (www.etea.edu.pk), and UET website (www.nwfpuet.edu.pk). At the Peshawar Centre, a total of 13347 candidates appeared in the test with 12975 candidates for admission in engineering disciplines, and 372 candidates appeared for Computer Science group. At Abbottabad Centre among 1637 candidates, 1593 candidates appeared for engineering group, whereas 44 candidates for the computer science group appeared for the entrance test. Vice Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, who was present on the occasion, expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements for holding the entrance test. He said that this year has witnessed about 19 per cent increase in the number of applicants as compared to that of last year appearing for engineering test and desire to get admission at UET Peshawar. This reflects not only the demand for engineering education in the province but a clear indication for the govt to increase the number of engineering seats in the universities since UET is only able to provide admission to 1000 students out of 15000 applicants.Dr. Khalid Khan, Additional Secretary Higher Education, Abdur Rauf Jamil, Executive Director ETEA, Prof. Dr. Hafizullah, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University, Prof. Dr. Shad Muhammad, Principal Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Zahid Mehmood, Dean Faculty of Engineering (UET), Prof. Abdul Jabbar, Registrar (UET), and other senior faculty members were present on the occasion.
