ISLAMABAD - The dysfunctional traffic signals are creating enormous problems for the commuters and motorists of the capital city, which contribute to traffic jam and accidents.

It was learnt that except sectors G-9, G-10, F-6 and F-7 traffic signals, most of the signals in the city often remain dysfunctional. Wardens of Islamabad traffic police are deployed at some signals but no warden is deployed at most of the signals to control heavy flow of traffic.

Liaquat Jadoon, one of the commuters, said that the long queues on traffic signals cause inconvenience besides operation of vehicles from opposite sides simultaneously could cause accidents.

Another commuter said that traffic wardens should be deployed at dysfunctional signals to control traffic. Citizens demanded concerned authorities to ensure proper functioning of the signals to avoid any untoward incidents.
