BAHAWALPUR - DCO Dr Naeem Rauf said that during the upcoming anti-polio vaccination campaign, more than 5 million children under five years of age will be vaccinated in the district. He was addressing a meeting held to review arrangements for the anti-polio vaccination campaign here the other day.

The DCO said that the four-day campaign would start from 18 July. He directed EDO Health Ihsanullah Warraich to achieve the target through strict adherence to the plan.

He directed all the department officers concerned to support the Health Department in the campaign.

On the occasion, representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) Muhammad Abidi told the participants that after the vaccination, each child would have a mark on one of the fingers to make the monitoring effective. This year number of polio cases in Pakistan is decreased by 50 percent which is a good sign,” he added.

The DCO also said that 1,269 teams would carry out vaccination during the campaign.
