Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has apologised for the post-match handshake snub of the T20 tri-series final in Zimbabwe that left Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed and some of his country's cricket fans irate.

Maxwell explained that incident as an oversight. According to him, "the incident was nothing more than a genuine oversight".

He further, added “in regards to the incident shown post-match, it appears unsportsmanlike, and certainly not the way I play the game,"

The footage had shown the all-rounder walking past Sarfraz, ready for a handshake, which made fans to criticize the Australian cricketer on social media.

It was a genuine oversight on my behalf and I’m currently looking for Sarfraz in the hotel to shake his hand, he stated.

Maxwell also congratulated Pakistan on their yesterday win and said Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik were unstoppable.
