ISLAMABAD - The couple spotted being tortured and stripped by the Usman gang in a video that went viral on social media recorded their statements before senior police officers of Islamabad police on Thursday claiming Usman raped the woman in the flat besides torturing them black and blue, informed sources.
The man and the woman who married each other after the occurrence of the incident also expressed their willingness with police to get a case registered against Usman and gang members, they said. Islamabad police are all set to insert section 376 of PPC in the FIR already registered against Usman and his gang members who are being grilled by Golra police station investigators after obtaining a physical remand from a court of law, sources said.
According to sources, the victim couple approached the office bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Youth Wing Rawalpindi and shared their ordeal while seeking legal aid. The JI office bearers immediately contacted SSP Investigation Islamabad Atta Ur Rehman, who along with ASP Amna Baig rushed to the office of JI. The couple had recorded their statements before the SSP and sought strict legal action against Usman and other gang members. The victim woman told police officers that she went to the flat in E-11/2 with his now husband some three months ago. She added that Usman and his gang members stormed into the flat and started torturing the couple. She alleged Usman stripped her naked in front of several men and severely tortured her. “Later, Usman raped me in the flat and hurled threats of dire consequences,” she told SSP Investigation in her statement.
The couple expressed their consent before police officers to pursue the case against Usman and gang, sources mentioned.
SSP Investigation Islamabad Atta Ur Rehman, while speaking on the occasion, said those involved in the unfortunate incident have been arrested by the police and put behind the bars. He said police are fully supporting the victims and the families. “The incident was very horrible. Both are married now and living happily. Police will resolve this case purely on merit,” said Atta Ur Rehman, who is leading the investigation in the high profile case. He said the whole Pakistani nation is with the couple which met a tragedy in a flat in the capital. “Police will get the culprits punished from a court of law by presenting solid evidences,” he said.
Meanwhile, Golra police station investigators have broadened the sphere of probe into the high profile case, according to a police spokesman. He added the investigators have seized the cell phones of all the four arrested persons and dispatched for forensic examination. He said police, following the instructions of Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamil ur Rehman, are resolving the matter fully on merit.
He said several police teams have been constituted by the IG which are carrying out raids in different localities to arrest rest of the members of Usman gang.
A source disclosed to The Nation that the police investigators of Golra police station have recovered a number of videos, showing them torturing girls and boys and assaulting them sexually, from the mobile phones of the accused.
However, senior police officers of Islamabad police, when contacted by The Nation for their comments, refused to speak on the issue.
