Late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had once said, "We would eat grass but make an atom bomb". Whether or not we ate grass, we did make an atom bomb and became the 7th nuclear power of the world on May 28, 1998. Now the entire western world is eyeing Pakistan's nuclear assets. This is the time that we rise and show unity among our ranks. Time to be ready for eating grass if we have to. We are going around the world with a begging bowl so our enemies have the opportunity to lay down tough conditions and dictate their terms. This is the time we should show some 'Khudi'. We have built up our nuclear arsenal to defend ourselves and not to hand over its control to the western powers. -MUHAMMAD AZHAR KHWAJA, Lahore, via e-mail, May 6.
