To understand our country one has to first grasp the one rupee doctrine. No, it is not at all a financial jinx it is something much deeper. Hazrat Umar, the second caliph once said If the guardian (of state) is affluent, let him claim no honorarium; but if he is poor, let him have for his needs what is just and reasonable. Quaid-i-Azam practiced this doctrine, as Governor General. Being affluent he never used to get his pay, just one rupee honorarium which he used to give to his office orderly on the start of every month. This concept of being just and reasonable is the golden rule that each one of us must follow. Pakistani state is mired in a plethora of problems, social, financial and political.
