3 ANP men among seven killed

Three workers of Awami National Party were shot dead while an alleged attacker at Lasbaila, Patail Para within the remits of Jamshaid Quarter police station.
The victims, including Naveed Ahmed, 30, Muhammad Sarfaraz, 45, and Mukhtar, 42, died on the way to Civil Hospital.
Police said that the incident took place near ANP’s ward office situated on Nishtar Road near Lasbella Chowk. Police quoted the witnesses as saying that the incident occurred when the victims were sitting at a Meat Market near the ward office when at least four armed men on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate firing and escaped.
The witnesses further said that the victims also retaliated and one of the attackers was also wounded but his companions managed to take him away while leaving one motorcycle on the spot.
ANP condemned the incident and said that Naveed was the ward’s president and Sarfaraz was the general secretary. The party spokesman demanded arrest of the culprits.
Following the incident, some unidentified persons blocked the flow of traffic. They also set tyres on fire and pelted the passing vehicles with stones. Routine and commercial activities were also suspended in Lasbella, Nishter Road and its surrounding areas. Extra contingent of police also reached the site but failed to normalise the situation down till this repot was filed.
“The incident took place purely in reaction of a fight between two criminal groups. The rival group was behind the incident,” said DSP Zameer Abbasi. Further investigation was underway.
Separately, a sub-inspector Sher Muhammad, 52, was shot dead in Qasba Colony of Orangi Town within the remits of Pirabad police station. Police officials said that the victim was posted to the Iqbal Market area of Orangi Town and was on-duty when the incident happened. He was shot multiple times and died on the spot. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Meanwhile, some gunmen get inside a public bus and shot dead a man within the remits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Police said armed men entered a public bus near Burakh petrol pump and shot Dilawar Mehsud. Assailants managed to flee while the victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police suspected that the victim was killed over personal enmity and handed the body over to family after autopsy.
A youth namely Arif Baloch was shot dead in Hingurabad, Lyari within the remits of Kalri police station. Police said that the victim was going home when some unidentified assailants targeted him. Police handed the body over to heirs after autopsy at Civil Hospital.
Manghopir Police have found a skeleton from the bushes of Hub River Road. Police said that the skeleton was handed over to Edhi foundation for burial after completing the legal formalities.
