Lahore- National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the resolutions carried by the assembly against drone attacks in the past had lost their significance and if the house was moved again, the members would be given full opportunity to discuss the issue and take decision.

Talking to media men in his constituency, NA-122, where he arrived on Saturday first time after his election to the speaker office Ayaz Sadiq said that in the past resolutions against drone attacks were passed by the Parliament which could not implemented. However, he said, in case a fresh resolution was tabled in the house, it would be put before the members for debate and decision.

He said implementation of a resolution was responsibility of the government and not that of the speaker and if a new resolution against the drone attacks was brought, the members would be given full opportunity to debate without creating any hurdle in this regard. He said as the custodian of the house, he regards every member equal and giving every member chance to present his point of view was part of his prime duties.  He said as the speaker, he would remain neutral and impartial and whosoever liked to speak on an issue would surely be given chance.

Ayaz Sadiq who had defeated PTI Chairman Imran Khan in this constituency said like other members, Imran Khan, was also a part of the House and enjoyed equal rights and privileges like others. “The political differences with Imran Khan are now over,” he maintained and added Khan would not be discriminated by him on the basis that he defeated him (Khan). He also prayed for early recovery of Imran Khan and said he would welcome him to the house.

Sardar Ayaz said the office of the speaker was of immense importance and he had never thought of getting it. “I express gratitude to Allah Almighty for bestowing upon me this respect and honour,” he said and added his party reposed trust in him for this office and he would run the house impartially and strictly according to the law and the rules. He said for him opposition and the treasury members were equal and they would get the same treatment from him.

To a question, the speaker said the last elections had established the fact that PML-N was the most popular party in the country.

Earlier, on his arrival at Ghari Shahu, PML-N workers warmly received him and carried him to the party office on their shoulders.
